RedCreek Communications was acquired by SonicWALL and the features of the Ravlin product line have been incorporated into the SonicWALL product line. SonicWALL provides an attractive upgrade program for Ravlin users who need to add capacity or additional features to their deployment.

SonicWALL's Ravlin product line provides high performance Virtual Private Network (VPN) products for users from remote or home office locations to users across an entire enterprise. These products ensure the privacy of business communications transmitted over private and public networks.

All Ravlin products are based on industry standards including full IPSec compliance and the Data Encryption Standard (DES) and 3DES encryption algorithms. All Ravlin products support IKE key management, X.509 certificates, Network Address and Port Translation (NAPT), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), RADIUS authentication, and have standard LAN connectivity.

Additionally, the appliances have a common firmware architecture that can be upgraded by downloads over the network. This common firmware architecture ensures all Ravlin products will interoperate in a seamless manner. SonicWALL has been, and will continue to be, a major participant and member of the Internet Engineering Task Force, which is responsible for setting Internet standards.

Secure VPN Encryption Appliances

The Ravlin 7160 is the data center grade member of the Ravlin family of security products. The Ravlin 7160, in concert with other Ravlin gateways and software clients, allows complete control of information policy using the Policy Enforced Networking (PEN) architecture developed by RedCreek Communications. Speed capabilities and tunneling capacity make the Ravlin 7160 a natural candidate to connect large locations and server farms. The Ravlin 7160 is built as a standard 19" rack-mounting unit with two Ethernet 10/100Base-T auto-sensing RJ45-based connections.
The Ravlin 5300 is a high speed member of the Ravlin family of security devices. It is easily configured in 100Base­TX infrastructures, and provides security bandwidth up to T3 rates to protect entire enterprise wide networks. In conjunction with the Ravlin Soft client and the Personal Ravlin hardware device, the Ravlin 5300 allows complete, flexible control of (and access to) confidential and private resources. Access to the Ravlin 5300 device is via standard Ethernet 10BaseT and 100Base­TX connections.
The Ravlin 3300 is the small office member of the Ravlin family of security devices. Network administrators use it to establish private communications within secure intranets (as between corporate divisions, workgroups, branch offices, and individuals) or within secure extranets (as between customers, suppliers, and strategic partners). Its low cost lets organizations establish security over private or public IP networks quickly and easily.
The Personal Ravlin II is targeted for the broadband-connected Internet teleworker. The Personal Ravlin II uses standard Ethernet 10Base-T connections to a cable modem, a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) modem or ISDN device. The Personal Ravlin firewall capabilities, as well as its encryption features, make it an ideal solution for anyone needing secure remote access to a corporate network without the support costs, headaches and reduced throughput of a software solution. When used in a small network, it supports up to five devices for maximum flexibility.

Secure VPN Software Products

The Ravlin Soft Client is a Windows® 95, Windows 98, Windows NT® and Windows 2000 based software tool that provides data privacy between a remote or mobile user and a protected corporate network. Combined with Ravlin hardware devices, Ravlin Soft provides a low-cost solution for dial-up client-based secure VPNs.
The Ravlin Node Manager is a Windows-based utility for accessing, configuring and managing Ravlin hardware devices and software clients. It allows users to specify the kind of security performed by Ravlin products, and integrates devices into an organization’s network and security infrastructure. Configuration wizards assist the setup and dismantling of secure intranets and extranets, as well as managing remote and mobile users. From a single centralized location, network managers can use the Ravlin Node Manager software tool to manage all aspects of their VPN.
